Dr. Bill Harris, the founder, president and CEO of OmegaQuant, was recognized earlier this year for his work in establishing the Omega-3 Index as a potential biomarker for cardiovascular disease risk. He received an Achievement Award from the Global Organization of EPA and DHA Omega-3s, or GOED. GOED is an association of manufacturers, marketers and supporters of EPA and DHA. Their primary focus is educating consumers and working with governments and the healthcare community to spread the news about the health benefits and uses of omega-3s. They also work with the omega-3 industry to set ethical and quality standards in both the production of these oils and the quality of the final product.

Today, OmegaQuant is finding many other uses for measuring fatty acids in both research and clinical settings, but it all began with an idea concocted by Drs. Harris and Clemens von Schacky in 2004. Congratulations to Dr. Harris on being recognized for his contributions to the field!
